Journey For Elysium 2nd Dev Diary Released

Video game development can seem like something of a mystery so it’s always welcome when the lid is lifted and we can take a look at the process. Mantis Games the developers behind the black and white styled VR game inspired by ancient mythology. Check out this trailer for Journey to Elysium.

Players take on the role of an unarmed hero who recently passed away, and travelled to the Underworld. To obtain your redemption you need to use all your wits, guile and skills in order to reach Elysium. A number of increasingly dangerous twists and challenges are between you and Elysium, but along the way you will discover more about his past.

The second in a series of Development Diaries takes a look at how the various technical features were implemented into Journey to Elysium. These include motion control gameplay as well as levels in the game.

  • Breath-taking puzzles inspired by the classic adventure games of the ’90’s. Solving the increasingly difficult puzzles moves the story forward.
  • Explore a rich world that walks the line between history and myth. Investigate stunning locations, and use your VR senses to connect with the world like never before.
  • Row the boat across the river Styx, the most important way to travel in the game. Comfortable and immersive.
  • Two modes of rowing. When you are not rowing, you can experience two different ways of moving around thanks to the Comfort or Immersive modes.
  • Stylistic black and white visuals inspired by Gustave Doré, with use of golden light to guide you on your way.

Journey For Elysium will be released in late 2019 and will be available on Steam https://store.steampowered.com/app/1036260/Journey_For_Elysium for the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift VR systems.
